Special remarks-

The Singapore Medical Council (SMC), a statutory board under the Ministry of Health, maintains the Register of Medical Practitioners in Singapore. This includes the administration of the compulsory Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and also the regulation of the professional conduct and ethics of registered medical practitioners37. The CME aims to maintain, develop and increase the knowledge, skills and professional performance of the Singaporean doctors. Each doctor has to keep him-/herself updated with the current developments and changes in the general medical industry and in the relevant region of his own practice in particular. This register is set up in order to enhance the quality care of patients and the society. Singapore Medical Council has decided to make CME compulsory for all doctors in Singapore.
