Special remarks-

The Philippine Council on Accreditation of Healthcare Organisations (PCAHO) was established in 1998. The PCAHO was founded by the Philippine Department of Health and is financially supported by the Asian Development Bank. Its goal is to improve the hospitals in the Philippines. The PCAHO is responsible for the certification of hospitals. PCAHO is giving workshops to medical staff dealing with quality standards of different systems and their implementation in hospitals.

The PCAHO works closely with the Confirmatory Drug Testing Laboratories (CDTLS), which offer training in quality improvement activities for medical clinics. The CDTLs and PCAHO cooperate in the process of accreditation of hospitals and healthcare facilities, with a focus on medical tourism.
